Welcome to my blog. Let's introduce myself, shall we?
I enjoy looking conjoined. |
I'm constantly dreaming, and most of the time these dreams become the inspiration for my designs. My other inspirations include street fashion, fashion history, and art movements. I believe that there really is no such thing as originality, only reinvention. With any art medium, there is the pattern of repetition and re-imagination. Everything we do, essentially, is derivative. The main street fashions influencing my personal style are Japanese styles like lolita, gyaru, and cult party kei. I adore the idea of the public, not the media, controlling trends. Some of my favorite fashion history eras are the Victorian and Rococo periods and the American Flapper and 50's movements. I'm also influenced my post-impressionism and the Pop Art movement. These various inspirations are all present in my work.
At the moment, I reside in Los Angeles, California. However, I'm originally from Manila, Philippines, and I moved to the US when I was seven. When I'm not wasting my time on YouTube and Tumblr, I'm making art, playing music, hanging out with friends, or binging (food is good, I can't help it). What I really like about LA is the vivacity of the city; it's never boring here. That being said, sometimes I desire peace and quiet, and they're almost impossible to find in my neighborhood. Then again, I fear that too much peace and quiet would bore me to death. My dream city is San Francisco; I can't get enough of how gorgeous the architecture is and how dynamic the art community is. If I lived there, practically nothing could get me to move. Naturally, because of my aesthetic inclinations, I also love New York. In my eyes, that city is perfect. I'd be content living anywhere I can practice my art.
That's all I have to say about myself for now! If you have any questions for me, feel free to comment on any of my posts. I hope I didn't bore you too much. If you read this far, you're a trooper. Give yourself a cookie.
Stay beautiful,
Patricia
